Dr. Antonio (Tony) Finelli, M.D., MSc., FRCS(C)
Tony Finelli is a urologic oncologist and clinician investigator at University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Finelli attended the University of Toronto where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate training in urology and a Masters of Science degree through the Surgical Scientist Program. He received advanced training in minimally invasive urologic oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and undertook another Masters degree in the department of Health, Policy, Management and Evaluation.
Dr. Finelli conducts health services research in urologic oncology with an interest in identifying gaps in care and designing knowledge translation strategies to overcome them. He is also actively involved in clinical trials. He has received peer-reviewed funding for his research and has published more than 75 manuscripts. Dr. Finelli recently received the Bernard Langer Surgeon Scientist Award that acknowledges an outstanding graduate of the Surgeon Scientist Program in the Department, who shows the greatest promise for a career in academic surgery.
Dr. Finelli’s clinical practice focuses on the management of urologic malignancies and in particular prostate and kidney cancer. He has performed live surgery for instructional purposes in more than 10 countries. Dr. Finelli is recognized nationally and internationally for his contributions to minimally invasive and robotic urologic surgery.
