HIFU: Your Prostate Cancer Solution

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure for men diagnosed with localized prostate cancer. Can-Am HIFU is owned and operated by a group of Canada's foremost Urologists and Urological Oncologists. The Sonablate®500 is the medical device that delivers HIFU to the tissues affected by prostate disease.

HIFU with the Sonablate® 500 has been approved by Health Canada for the treatment of prostate cancer since June 2005. HIFU is an alternative treatment for LOCALIZED PROSTATE CANCER. In certain situations the other alternatives may be watchful waiting/active surveillance, Radical Prostatectomy (Open or Robotic) Radiation (External Beam or Brachytherapy), Cryosurgery or Hormone Therapy.

We are the leaders in High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for the treatment of localized prostate cancer. Since our centre, the first Sonoblate HIFU centre in North America, opened in March of 2006 we have treated almost 1000 patients with the Sonablate® 500. Currently there are nearly 100 HIFU clinics across the globe, and more than 11,000 patients have chosen the Sonablate® 500 for their prostate cancer treatment.

There are HIFU doctors working throughout Canada and off shore who have been trained/certified at our HIFU facility. They treat their patients on the Sonablate® 500 at the Can-Am HIFU Centre (if they are Canadian Licensed) or off shore. Can-Am HIFU offers patient treatment and physician training at our Private Surgical Centre in the heart of Downtown Toronto. The Centre is fully equipped with the latest technology for the minimally invasive treatment of prostate cancer. The Can-Am HIFU unit has been accredited and certified as an “Out of Hospital” (OHP) treatment facility by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Can-Am HIFU®is committed to maintaining the patient's highest possible quality of life after delivering effective, non-invasive, curative prostate cancer treatment in an out-patient setting.
